Coffee Bean European Style Pen

coffee-bean-pen

Coffee bean pen, made from coffee beans embedded in acrylic material, handcrafted and enhanced with a 24K gold cap, tip and clip. The raw material is purchased from the manufacturer, the blank is cut to the right size and then shaped on a wood lathe. Once the desired shaped is achieved, the material is sanded and polished to a beautiful shine. This material used for this pen takes a lot of extra time and effort, As you work with the material, there are spots that need to be sealed and it takes a lot of work to achieve the appearance you see here. The pen was sealed with a special Cyanoacrylate glue to protect it.

Fountain Pen Ancient Kauri Wood

fountain-pen2

Fountain Pen made from Ancient Kauri wood. While it is similar in density to cherry, with textures similar to basswood, it feels like no other wood. One notable difference: when finishing Ancient Kauri, special rewards await the woodworker who sands Ancient Kauri to 600 grit and higher. The wood grains and textures seem to come alive when polished to these levels. Radio carbon dating places the age of the Ancient Kauri trees that are being excavated from the northland of New Zealand at 50,000 years old. This is the maximum limit of radio carbon dating, it is probable that this wood is even older. *Includes certificate of authenticity* see http://www.ancientwood.com/kauri-story

Unique pen with the look of southwestern turquoise. The bright turquoise and contrasting black lines make this pen particularly special. The pen started out as an square acrylic 'blank' that measured 6 inches by 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch. It's cut into two pieces, holes a drilled into it lengthwise. Brass tubes are glued and inserted. The product is then shaped on a lathe and then polished to a brilliant shine. The crowning touch is the silver hardware.

Cappuccino European Style Pen

Deliciously beautiful pen made from an acrylic called 'Cappuccino' Featuring creamy shades of white with sumptuous 'caramel' swirls, this is the perfect gift for that favorite coffee lover. This is a work of art that took a lot of time and patience. During the polishing process, the lighter colors make it harder to see any fine scratches or flaws so that takes extra work. The pen was shaped, sanded with sandpaper grits from 150 to 600, then polished with a special 'wet' sandpaper from 1500 to 12000 and assembled with a gold clip, cap and center band.

“I started making handcrafted pens about two years ago after a visit to a woodworking show. It took some time and practice. I am pleased to share the results with others. I make one-of-a-kind handcrafted pens from exotic woods and acrylic materials. I hope others have as much enjoyment using my pens as I have had making them.” Visit Randy Filkin on Twitter for the latest designer pens and styles.
